Parish Mission 2018

PARISH MISSION - JUNE 2nd to 17th JUNE 2018 Anyone under a certain age may well ask “What is a Mission” and why are we having one? Our Mission is an opportunity for the parish to grow in faith – both individually and as a parish community. We have invited the Sion Catholic Community, a community which among other things is well known for presenting prayerful and inspiring missions, to guide us on our journey, to develop our relationship with God – to be inspired by the Holy Spirit in our daily lives. Our Parish Mission focuses on a chosen time, of two weeks next June, for everyone in the Parish to draw closer in friendship with God (the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit), both individually and as a Parish family. The Sion teams will spend the first week visiting Parishioners in their homes, there will be daily mass, faith sharing and Eucharistic Adoration. During the second week there will be celebrations, opportunities for prayer, Mass, reconciliation, faith sharing and a parish social event. To prepare for this we need vigorous involvement and commitment from our parish community. We have already had an excellent response from a good number of parishioners, but there is always room for more volunteers! Pope Francis in his Exhortation Evangelii Gaudium says: I invite all Christians, everywhere, at this moment, to a renewed personal encounter with Jesus Christ, or at least an openness to letting him encounter them.’ Our Parish Mission will allow us the time and space to open our hearts even more to the love and mercy of God. Pope Francis went onto say: ‘How I long to find the right words to stir up enthusiasm for a new chapter of evangelisation full of fervour, joy, generosity, courage, boundless love and attraction.’
