Re dedication of England as the Dowry of Mary

2020 Re-dedication of England as the Dowry of Mary: In 1381, King Richard II dedicated England as the “Dowry of Mary”, offering our nation and its people as a gift or a dowry, for Our Lady to keep under her protection and guidance. This year, on Sunday 29 March, England will be re-dedicated as the Dowry of Mary as we seek Our Lady’s special protection and prayers in our own turbulent times. Directly before the re-dedication, there will be a Triduum of Prayer from 26-28 March, where all will be invited to recite the Litany of the Saints and Martyrs of England, pray the Rosary and go to Confession. History shows us that when the people pray and surrender to God’s will for their lives, society is transformed. All Catholics are encouraged to respond to this invitation to give ourselves, as the people of this country, to Mary, the first disciple of Our Lord, so that all the people of England may share in the joy of the Gospel.
