Traditional Requiem sung in Chantry Chapel

Monsignor David celebrated a Requiem Mass in the Chantry Chapel on Friday 30th December. The Mass was sung with the assitsance of the choir and local 'schola'. This has now become aa annual traditional Requiem whiuch started in 2010 when local historian Kate Taylor wanted a special commemoration of the Battle of Wakefield. On that day in 1460 and near to the chapel both Richar Duke of York and Edmund, Duke of Rutland were executed following the battle that had started at nearby Sandal Castle.Earlier in the day the King Richard III Society held a small service and laid flowers on the altar.
