Film Club
Members of the Film Club had their usual monthly film night on Wednesday 4 December 2024 but with a difference – it was their annual Christmas party. They were greeted with a complimentary glass of sherry or orange juice on arrival and looked very festive dressed in something red. After enjoying that life affirming film “It’s a Wonderful Life” they were treated to the various and delicious selection of goodies brought by their good selves, and took the opportunity to chat to each other in a relaxed and informal setting. Fr Sean Crawley, our Parish Priest, joined us until we all dispersed eventually – it seemed like no one wanted to go home. We wish you all a happy and holy Christmas and a peaceful New Year.
The Film Club began in May 2014. Our aim is to provide a social occasion for all our parishioners and those in our community. We show a variety of films which would be enjoyed by most people. We meet on the first Wednesday of every month in the Thompson Room in St Austin’s Parish Centre. Doors open at 6 30 pm when the cafebar will also be open for hot and cold drinks. The film starts at 7 pm and there is an interval when drinks once again will be available and ice creams will be on sale. The evening finishes somewhere between 9 30 and 9 45 pm. No charge is made but donations are welcome to support the Church and to cover the cost of licensing of films. All are very welcome.
Please look on the notice board in the narthex of St Austin’s Church for details of the next film.
